Cricket: Baby Cranes Target Nigeria Scalp After Strong Start

Uganda’s U19 National Cricket team will return to action on Wednesday for their third game at the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa U-19 World Cup Qualifier (Div. I) in Windhoek, Namibia.

The Baby Cricket Cranes have had a perfect start so far – winning two from as many attempts.

Jackson Ogwang’s charges topped the Migingo Derby with a 70 run victory before overcoming Sierra Leone by 75 runs.

Nigeria on the other hand, are still unbeaten after wins against Kenya and host Namibia.

“It’s not yet party time,” Baby Cricket Cranes Assistant Coach Lawrence Ssematimba told Journalist and UCA’s Innocent Ndawula. “There are still big games ahead and let’s see if we can beat Nigeria and the rest.”

Uganda is seeking to finish top of the six team log to book a ticket to the glamorous ICC U-19 Africa Division II World Cup Qualifiers layer in South Africa.

Uganda will hope to draw experience from Zephaniah Arinaitwe and pray that Frank Akankwasa and Ismail Munir repeat their heroics in the first games, to beat the West African side.
