JKL Dolphins 71-64 Ndejje University Angels
JKL Dolphins managed to overcome Ndejje University Angels in a friendly game played at Namboole courts.
The clash of two National Basketball League sides, played with a low tempo, saw the lead exchange hands on various occasions inside the first half before JKL took charge of the proceedings.
Trailing 16-12 after the first quarter, Walker Obedi’s charges came out of the blocks to edge the second quarter 10-13 to lead cut the deficit 26-25 at halftime.
The Dolphins, with the likes of Bernard Okumu, Ferdinand Odama, Brian Namake, Yesman Bushiri, Daniel Orenga among others, won 18-16 and 27-23 in the third and last quarter respectively to seal a contested fight.
Derrick katumba, Innocent Ochera, John Nyang and Salim Kisily were some of the players who featured for a Ndejje team that lost a seven point game.
Manoja ‘Dudus’ Manoja and Joseph Wacha scored 12 points each for the Dolphins while Ndejje’s Samuel Ajack led with a game high 13 points.
Kadipa Kabantu (JKL Assistant Coach) – I take positive notes from this game, we tried to bring up new players together. So far we are doing well. This is our second week training and we are trying to catch up.
Bernard Okumu (JKL player)- It was a good game, very intense, they gave us more time as the new players. As the way am seeing things, we can make it to more than we (JKL) finished last season.
Derrick Katumba (Ndejje) – We have a lot of work to do. This was like our first training session. We have lots of young talents in the team, and hopefully, we can catch up.
