UPL: URA Remain Fourth After BUL Stalemate

URA FC 1-1 BUL FC
(Mandela National Stadium, Namboole)

URA FC failed to overtake Mbarara in third position after Sam Ssimbwa’s charges were held by BUL FC in a league game at Namboole.

The hosts had an early start when Captain Shafic Kagimu orchestrated the move for Lwasa Peter who found Rwothomio Cromwell with a low laid assist to bundle home the opener in the second minute.

BUL levelled matters at the hour mark with Richard Wandyaka, at the end of Umar Mukobe’s freekick, scoring with his chest.

URA who remain in fourth with 39 points, two below Mbarara in third, had Kagimu’s weak effort easily collected by Ssebwalunyo.

Lwasa also came close but the visitors’ shot stopper also saved the day. Charles Sempa’s header off Saidi Kyeyune’s corner was kept out by an outstanding Sebwalunyo.

The result ended URA’s impressive run that had seen the club win their last three league games – beating up on Kirinya Jinja, KCCA and Paidha Black Angels.

BUL Show Mettle In Second Half

BUL FC were lucky to be down by just a goal at the break as the Jinja based side was always at the receiving end.

Richard Wandyaka had a long range effort drop behind the goal posts as BUL tried to get back into the game.

Ezekial Katende was denied by the crossbar and the attacker also had an attempt deflected for a corner.

The Visitors remain in fifth place with 36 points from 23 league games.

BUL FC’s next league engagement will be against Tooro United as URA will play host to Express FC on Match-day 24.
