Uganda Crested Cranes Coach Farida Bulega has said that Uganda can make it to the second round of the CAF Africa Qualifiers after the team lost 3-2 in Addis Ababa.
Speaking after the loss, the tactician Bulega reflected:
“It has been a tough game but we had come here to play safe. The good thing is that we have managed to score two important goals although we failed to score a penalty.
“We are on a better side, and back home we hope to overturn this deficit. We are going to work hard, we work on how finishing and shooting. The girls have done their best, Ethiopia had the home advantage and the referee was on their side.”
Aisha Namukisa scored in his own net for the hosts to take an early lead before Sandra Nabweteme failed yo convert from the penalty spot.
Loza Abera and Serkaddis Guta gave Ethiopia a 3-0 lead with just 12 minutes on the clock. Uganda managed to pull two goals back courtesy of an own goal and Hassifa Nassuna.
Uganda will now host Ethiopia at Lugogo on Saturday needing to win at least 1-0 to reach the second round where Cameroon already awaits.
