National Basketball league side Betway Power have unveiled their new players and staff ahead of the 2019 season.
Power, a Betway sponsored franchise will start their campaign this Friday against City Oilers and are very optimistic that this is their season to return to the top.
Shooting Guard Samuel Agutu joins the team from KIU Titans, Syrus Kiviiri and Libe Makala from Warriors and JKL Dolphins respectively.
Phillip Kyomuhendo has also been unveiled as the new General Manager, replacing Allan ‘Sokee’ Musoke. The club has also added former player Boniface Okello as the assistant coach, to deputise head coach Arnold ‘Muchuda’ Lando.
Speaking during the unveiling at Betway Uganda head offices, Country Manager (Betway) Adellah Agaba noted that she is very optimistic that Power will triumph.
“It was very tough last season,” started the soft spoken Agaba. “Am very positive that we will take it. Our team is not scared and with these new additions, I feel that we are ready to go.”
“Betway loves the game and we have proven that overtime.”
It should be noted that beside Power, Betway also sponsors Kobs (Rugby) and Express FC (Football) among other sports entities.
Power have won five league titles, one behind joint leaders Falcons and City Oilers. However, the side last tested league triumph in 2011.
“Last year we were almost there, and I promise our fans that we have already put everything in order to give you the best,” noted Patrick Obalim Okot, commonly known as Ofono, the club’s President.
Kyomuhendo and Mchuda also vowed to dethrone City Oilers.
