UPL: Battle Of Sleeping Giants As Express Host Villa

Thursday, April 11
Express FC Vs SC Villa, 4:00 PM
(Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku)

Not many years back when a fixture involving Express and SC Villa was a title decider. However, with the emerging force of KCCA and Vipers SC, the song has changed.

Express and Villa are record Uganda Cup and League winners respectively – Villa has won 16 league titles while Express has ten, joint top with KCCA.

Despite the title drought at giant clubs, they still remain a commanding force in Uganda football thanks to a big fan base.

Whatever time of the season this fixture is played, everything comes to a standstill, tantamount to a two Paragraph elephants scuffle in a game park.

SC Villa ‘Flirting’ With Relegation

Like it was the case for Express last season, Villa are on the brink of a drop to big league. The side visit their foes with 26 points, two points and a place adrift if safety.

It has been a hectic season for Villa who started this journey with Coach Moses Basena before he resigned for Douglas Bamweyana to take over.

A win against Express will all but revive their season, it’s three points at stake, but with more than bragging rights at stake, Villa need this more.

Villa won the reverse fixture in Namboole – Bashir Mutanda bagged a brace to seal a 2-0 deserved victory last year.
