Cricket: Much Anticipation Ahead of T20 World Cup Africa

The ICC T20 World Cup Africa regional finals are set to be hosted in Uganda, Kampala from May 17-25.

The much anticipated event was launched on Tuesday morning at Lugogo where also a committee of eleven volunteers was unveiled to the members of the press.

This committee (LOC) will be headed by Paul Kaheru who will be assisted by UCA CEO Martin Ondeko (Tournament Coordinator).

Denis Musali (Liaison), Innocent Ndawula (Media), Alvin Bagaya (Accommodation), Cissy Musiime (Security), Hanumant Katkar (Stadia), Kenneth Mulondo (accreditation), Dennis Buwembo (medical), Rita Tinka (Catering) and Grace Mutyagaba (Transport) are the other members on the committee.

“We expect a much better event because this is a same committee we had few years ago,” started Kaheru. “We seek to organise a colourful event as we expect more fans to come and enjoy the games as we intend to provide a great atmosphere at all the games.”

The Cricket Cranes will be in pursuit to finish among the top two on the final day, in a bid to progress to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 11 to November 3, 2019.

Beside Uganda, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia and Nigeria are the other teams to compete.

The tourney will be hosted at two ovals – Kyambogo and Lugogo – with ground coordinator Katkar claiming that those two ovals are enough and easy to manage.

Bagaya revealed that the teams will reside at Kabira Country club which will not be accessible unless you have been accredited.
