Uganda’s senior men National Basketball team, the Silverbacks, will hold a friendly game with Egyptian Club Smouha.
FUBA President Nasser Sserunjogi confirmed to SportsNation that Smouha will face Uganda in a double header friendly on Friday, May 17 and Sunday, May 19 at MTN arena in Lugogo.
This, is set to fine tune the National team ahead of AFROCAN qualifiers (AfroBasket for Men) that will be hosted in Kampala, June 26 to July 1st this year.
It should be noted that Smouha are the 2019 Zone five runners up after falling to fellow Egyptian sides Alhy 68-67, in a tournament that was held in Tanzania, where Uganda’s City Oilers withdrew.
This will be the first time that the Silverbucks return to action since falling 92-79 to Rwanda in Lagos, in last year’s World Cup Qualifiers first round phase. The team went on to finish bottom of pool B.
It is not yet revealed whether FUBA will bring the foreign based players like Robinson Opong, Jordin Mayez, Adarius Pegues, Brandon Ssebirumbi, Emmanuel Mugenga, John Deng Geu among others, not to mention coach George Galanopoulos for the friendly.
