Volleyball: Nemostars Unveil New Players Ahead Of League Opener

The National Volleyball league season is in the corner and Nemostars have already shown their intent of defending their crown.

The reigning Champions who also finished sixth on the continent amidst financial constraints, unveiled their new players ahead of the season that serve off this Friday at Lugogo.

Bernard Malinga (centre blocker), Emma Elanyu (Libero), Nicholas Agaba (Libero) and Timothy Kyambalango (Setter) are the new additions for the Men’s side. Florence Kitui (centre blocker) joins the Women team.

“We have strengthened to the maximum in the areas where we were lacking and we want to better our recent achievements,” briefly said Nemo coach Andrew Okapis.

Malinga joins from Matrix, Elanyu was with KAVC, Agaba and Kitui were with Cobap and Espoir respectively while Kyambalango is still a student.

Nemostars will be targeting to win a seventh title and are expected to come out big against UCU Doves in a league opener, in a repeat of last year’s finals.

Okapis Reflects On Recent Continental Success:

“Playing in such financial constraints has been our motivator especially in hard times. We kept believing and we had gone there to play.

“I believe that if we get good preparations, we can break the Arab jinx. Volley is an indoor game, but now we are called champions of ‘Kataka’.

“But as a club we are looking for a plan, we want to have all our games indoor so as we can get the feel. We can beat anyone who gets us our well.”
