UPL: Viane Ssekajugo Strikes Late To Relegate Ndejje University

Ndejje University are officially relegated after falling 1-0 to Onduparaka FC in a rescheduled league game played on Thursday at Arena of Visions stadium in Bombo, Luwero.

Viane Ssekajugo was the difference – The striker was at the end of Hassan Mohammed’s freekick to bundle home late in the the 87th minute.

The fixture was supposed to be played on Wednesday but was forced to be postponed to the following day after a heavy down pour.

The loss ends Ndejje’s stay in the league after a one year stay, putting an end to Villa’s relegation woes in the process.

Ndejje joins Paidha Black Angels and Nyamityobora who had earned their relegation tickets earlier. The three teams were promoted last season.

With a game to spare, Ndejje are 14th on the 16 team log with 26 points. The side has won six games coming against Nyamityobora, Vipers, Tooro United, Maroons (A), Paidha and Mbarara City.

The side scored 23 goals and conceded 41 goals in woeful season in top flight.

The calm before the storm

The victory sends Onduparaka to fifth place and the table with 44 games – This was the team’s 12 win after 29 games.

Ndejje will play Kirinya Jinja SS while Onduparaka will face Express in Arua on the last day of the season.
