Uganda Premier League status is now a reality for Wakiso Giants.
The side managed to overcome Entebbe FC with a 2-1 win, relagating the former Masavu FC side in the process.
“We played as a team,” started Hassan Wasswa Dazo who was speaking after the promotion. “We have been as a family right from the start and we made the target very clear before the season started.”
The victory lifted Wakiso to 40 points, four above Kyetume FC with a game to spare. Wakiso will be visiting Nebbi Central in their last game of the season.
“The first game against Amuka Bright Stars and then that of Nebbi Central were very crucial in this campaign.”
Wakiso becomes the first team to win promotion to premier league this season, and the side will be testing top flight football next season.
“We want to be in top four, and it is something which is achievable. We want to go out there and continue playing as a family, play for each other.”
