Warriors pummeled Betway Power, to say the least, in a league encounter played at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Warriors, who had a strong start with a 30-16 first quarter lead, dominated the proceedings from start to finish before sealing off a deserved 92-62 win.

Mark Opiyo put up a a player of the match performance, filling the stat-sheet with a game high 20 points, four rebounds and two assists. Michael Buzangu (17), Chris Omanye (13) and Jonathan Kambala (12) reached double figures.

“I am satisfied with the performance of my players and I will take the win, noted Warriors coach Ronnie Mutebi. ” We managed go stay mentally strong and kept on pushing.”

“Our ambitions are very clear that we want to win this year’s championship, we are not there yet but the progress can be seen.”

Geoffrey Soro and Syrus Kiviiri fired 14 and 10 points respectively, Libe Makala contributed 10 rebounds but their efforts were not enough to guide Power past Warriors.

Warriors were strong at both ends of the court, shooting 36-of-64 on the field against Power’s lowly 17-of-77 on the night.

The Kyambogo side’s bench, led by Buzangu produced 35 points against Power’s 22, on a night where Joseph Ikong made a return on court for the first time for Power this season.

Mutebi’s charges remain unbeaten with four wins from as many games – They had beaten up on KCCA Men, Kampala University and KIU Titans recently.

This was Power’s third loss, second in a row after falling to JKL Dolphins. They had lost to City Oilers in the opener before beating KIU Titans.

Power will return to action against Our Saviour on May 5 while Warriors will seek to keep their unbeaten on track when they face City Oilers on May 10.

In the first game of the evening, Rachael Nanyonga put up 15 points as A1 Challenge beat MUK Sparks 70-63.
