COSAFA Cup: Mubiru, Massa Conduct First Training Session

Its a busy period for Uganda Cranes. Two teams are training simultaneously – one for AFCON while the other for COSAFA Cup.

The COSAFA team which is regarded as the B-side, has kicked off their preparations on Tuesday at StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.

The team is under the stewardship of Police FC Coach Abdullah Mubiru and Legendary striker Geoffrey Massa.

“Everyone is working hard to represent their nation and that has been encouraging,” said coach Mubiru. “The fitness levels are a bit down which is understandable but they will be ready to go in the next days.”

“Am focusing on these players to try out build up play right from the back and that counter attack.”

The Cranes are set to make their debut appearance at the COSAFA tournament as guests, starting the campaign on the quarterfinal stage.

Only 14 players trained, with, all KCCA FC players and assistant coach Morley Byekwaso didn’t turn up as they requested to miss and be part of their Star Times Uganda Premier League trophy parade celebrations but will be available tomorrow.

The team entered their residential camp at sky hotel in Naalya.

Forwards: Nelson Senkatuka (Brights Stars FC), Bashir Mutanda (SC Villa)
