Big League: Anukani On Target As Proline FC Clinch Title

Saturday, May 18
Wakiso Giants FC 0-1 Proline FC

Bright Anukani was the hero after his goal proved the difference as Proline FC edged Wakiso Giants in a FUFA Big League final played at StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo, Kampala.

The youngster, who is part of the Uganda Cranes squad preparing for COSAFA, slotted home what proved to be the winner in the 33th minute.

Wakiso Giants who were the second best team on the day, failed to convert a few of their chances before succumbing to a flawless young side.

Ayub Kisalita had his long range freekick shot kept out for a corner, Norman Ogik’s header off Yasin Mugume rattled the crossbar and the keeper also saved from Feni Ali’s attempt from close range as Wakiso Giants tried to pull the game level.

Shafic Bisaso’s charges dominated proceedings with their tik-tak attacking style that wooed the packed crowd at Lugogo, although they never created many clear cut opportunities.

Proline FC are now the 2018-19 FUFA Big League side. They had finished top of the Rwenzori group with 42 points. Wakiso topped Elgon group with 41 points. Kyetume FC is the third promoted team that will be playing in the Uganda Premier League as it stands.
