*Rwanda 3-0 Ethiopia
*Kenya 3-0 Uganda
(25-20, 25-17, 25-16)
Kenya’s senior women national Volleyball team managed to live as advertised.
The side made light work of Uganda to clinch a 3-0 deserved victory and storm the 2019 All Africa Games.
The prestigious 12th edition will take place in August 19-22, 2019 in Rabat, Morocco.
Led by Captain Mercy Moim, the Malkia Stars managed to impose their dominance to sweep Zone Five nations as Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia provided no threat after Egypt failed to turn up for the three day tourney.
Moim who vies her trade with Kenya Prisons credited the victory to hard work despite the team using just one week to prepare for the tournament. She commended government support despite local media in Kenya claiming that the team was cash strapped.
The Malkia stars, who had earlier beaten up on Ethiopia and Rwanda in three straight sets, took the first highly contested set 25-20 before coming 6-1 down to take the second 25-17 as Uganda failed to capitalise from their home crowd cheers.
Uganda who earlier started on court with Saidat Nnungi, Joan Tushemereirwe, Doreen Akiteng, Eunice Amuron, Flavia Nandawula and Habiba Namala, failed to bounce back before succumbing to a 25-16 fourth set loss.
