It’s bad news for the other teams as Warriors have been boosted by the return of Saidi ‘Carmelo’ Amisi ahead of their Saturday clash with UCU Canons at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

Melo, shortened from Carmelo, jetted in the country on Sunday and has been training with Warriors at Kyambogo the whole week.

He is set to play his first game this season after missing out, with the opening games finding him outside the country.

His return is a major boost for Coach Ronnie Mutebi’s side that is yet to lose a game, winning six in a row including Oilers, KIU and Power rout.

Warriors have fired on all cylinders since the season started, thanks to the three additions of Chris Omanye, Jonathan Kambala and Michael Buzangu. The latter making a return after a year out.

Melo and Buzangu are friends both on and off the court and it’s this chemistry that is set to terrorise other teams.

Melo will give the team balance going forward and also in defense as he majorly capitalises on his size and power to clean the glass at both ends of the court.

However, UCU Canons are not going to be a walkover.

The University side come into Saturday fixture on the back of a 58-64 loss to KIU Titans, a game that ended their unbeaten streak.

Led by Coach Nicholas Natuhereza, UCU will hope to collect much from their starters especially with the size of Titus Lual, Isaiah Mabeny, David Deng and Fadhil Chuma to match Warriors’.

Last season, Warriors got a walkover (both first and second round regular season, per rules) as the opening fixture against UCU came early for the Mukono team that had not submitted their Hepatitis B cards to FUBA officials, it was alleged.

In 2017, Warriors won both regular season games Vs UCU Canons 65-60 and 62-59.
