NBL: City Oilers Make Light Work Of Ndejje

City Oilers ran out convincing winners in a one sided affair against Ndejje University Angels in the National Basketball League game at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo.

The six time league champions looked like one, leading 31-15 in the first quarter and never looked back in a dominant affair against Walker Obedi’s side.

Despite missing out key guns like Stephen Omony and Ben Komakech, Oilers managed to shoot 44% from the field and remained in character to limit Ndejje to just nine points in the last quarter.

James Okello ran the show with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Other actors in supporting roles included Jimmy Enabu (19 pts), Ivan Muhwezi (16 pts), Landry Ndikumana (11 pts, 12 rbds), Francis Chisioke had 10 points among others.

Mandy Juruni’s side out rebounded Ndejje 57-46, limited Ndejje to just three made attempts from beyond the arc, made 25 steals among other positives.

This was the second loss for the University side after going on a five game winning streak since losing an opener against UCU Canons.

Innocent Ochera and Samuel Ajack, 13 and 11 points respectively, were the only Ndejje players to collect double figures on a night the will wish to forget easily.

This was Oilers second win in a row after recently beating up on Sharing Youth at KIU court last Saturday. They had lost three games in a row before going on a two game winning streak. They have now won six from nine in total and lead the log as of Saturday morning.

Oilers will return to league action on Sunday, May 26 against Our Saviour at YMCA before facing KCCA Men on June 1.

KCCA men, in the first game of the evening, beat Falcons, picked their second win from six games so far.
