Betway Power switched on their destruction mode to pummel old rivals Falcons in a one sided NBL game played at YMCA court in Wandegeya, Kampala.

The five time champions were utterly merciless and unforgiving as they registered a 111-50 victory, the first time they cross a 100 mark this season.

Power welcomed back three of their stars – Syrus Kiviiri, Phillip Ameny and Fahmy Ssebatindira – and Falcons proved a no match as none of their players managed to reach double figures.

Syrus shot 9-12 from the field to score a game high 24 points in a commanding performance. Joseph Ikong produced another big show with 20 points before fan favourite Guddi ‘Kikiri’ Nasser entertained the crowd with 15 points (including two three pointers).

Philo was very efficient on the night, shooting 5 for 5 to garner 11 points, Fahmy also had 11 points on a day all the Power players scored at least two points.

Falcons looked never charged up for the occasion after managing just nine and ten points in the first and second quarters respectively before the six time champions succumbed to Power’s superiority.

Henry Mbazira (9), Andrew Opiyo (8 pts, 10 rebounds) and Vinny Jurua (8) tried their best for Falcons but the efforts were all in vain and couldn’t stop a high flying Power.

Power turned on beast mode

Arnold Lando’s side shot 26-of-42 from the field, and were 53% from the free throw line. They out rebounded Falcons 58-47 before getting 57 points off the bench against Falcons’ 17.

Power who have now won five games from nine attempts, will have less time to rest as they face Kampala University Eagles on Saturday at KIU Court in Kansanga.

Falcons, two wins from ten games, will face UCU Canons on Sunday for their last game of the first round of the regular season.
