Uganda managed to win their first game at the ongoing Genocide Memorial Cricket Tournament in Kigali, Rwanda.

Coming into the game on the back of a loss against Tanzania, Uganda needed a win against the hosts for not only motivation but also keep their title dreams alive.

The team set a miserable 91/6 after 20 overs but could later successfully defend their tally as the hosts succumbed despite having enough support at Gahanga Stadium.

Damilie Busingye hit 28 off 42 balls while Esther Ilukor knocked 31 runs as the Lady Cricket Cranes set 91/6.

With the ball, Uganda flourished thanks to Stephanie Nampiina and Mildred Anyigo who picked three and two wickets respectively.

In the other game of the day, Mali, after electing to bat first, managed just 11/9 before getting battered by Tanzania 14/0 and win by 10 wickets.
