Egypt will be aggressive and tough, according to their captain Menna Award.
The team arrived in the country on Monday morning before training at Indoor Arena ahead of the zone five basket championship.
“We hope that we win, we are going to be aggressive, very tough. We have been in a close camp in Egypt for two months and we have done everything we could, and hopefully we win this tournament,” Menna told this website.
“We are focussed, we have to do everything we can because we want to go the African Championship. Every player is ready to do everything to win this Championship.
“We are going to play Uganda and we are aware that the fans we will do everything for Uganda to win. That comes with pressure but we are ready.”
Egypt who comes with the favourites tag, will face stiff competition from other countries like Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania among others for the only ticket to AfroBasket.
Team head coach Ehab Elaify re-echoed his captain’s words of the need to winning the tourney, but said that the competition in Zone five is very high.
Ehab noted that his side has got experience and maturity to help see Egypt triumph in Kampala. He added that he will rely on all his good squad including foreign based player Reem Moussa to gun down opponents.
It should be remembered that Egypt won this Zone Five Championship in 2017 as hosts, beating Kenya and Uganda in the Women category.
