Uganda Was Winnable Fixture – Zimbabwe’s Billiat

Zimbabwe’s chances of qualifying from the group stages of the 2019 Total African Cup of nations gained a slim momentum after a 1-1 draw with Uganda.

Having lost 1-0 in the opening game to record AFCON holders, hosts and favorites Egypt, Zimbabwe wanted to find solace against Uganda Cranes in their second game.

Emmanuel Okwi gave Uganda a lead in the 12th minute and the Zimbabwe warriors were on blink of elimination before Kharma Billiat levelled matters before halftime.

But with a point out of two games, star player and goal scorer Billiat, who also won man of the match award in the game thinks the whole team let down the entire nation:

“I think we need to take up more responsibility as a team, to be specific as forwards. We played better than the Egypt game but unfortunately we didn’t win much as we created more goal scoring chances. We let the entire nation down because this was a winnable fixture.”

Billiat was named man of the match against Uganda. CAF

The Kaizer Chiefs forward remains positive that the warriors will turn tables in the last do or die fixture with Congo on Sunday to be in contention of a last sixteen berth.
