Former Express FC midfielder Derrick Tekkwo has joined top flight side Tooro United, a source at the club has confirmed.
Tekkwo who joins Tooro United after featuring for Big league side Kitara FC last season, has signed a one year contract.
The experienced midfielder, Tekkwo, is known for his aggressive approach in the middle of the park.
Tekkwo who also played for Kira United, played for the Uganda Cranes, receiving his National team debut under Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovich.
He studied at Hoima Central (O’level) and Kalinabiiri SS (A’Level). He also played for Uganda Sand Cranes in beach soccer.
He was one of the three players who joined Express FC in 2016 on loan from URA FC. The others include Yayo Lutimba and Samuel Ssenkoomi.
He becomes Tooro United’s fourth signing of the season after the club recently confirmed the acquisition of Water FC duo Denis Mugerwa and Lule Gerrard, and Charles Musiige (Nyamityobora).
Tmothy Musingiizi, Meddie Kibirige and Mike Kawooya have reportedly renewed their contracts at Tooro.
Eddie Ruhweza, Moses Kirumira, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Mahad Yaya Kakooza and Allan Kayiwa have left the club.
The club, finished fourth with 49 points during the concluded season and will be aiming for a better place come the 2019/20 season which is expected to kickoff in September.
Tooro, formed in 2007 as Soana FC, recently announced Spelito Ssesanga as a co-owner of the club. He bought 49% shares.
