Netball: Uganda Rise In Rankings

Uganda’s senior netball team, the She Cranes, have risen by a place in the International Netball Federation Rankings.

The rankings released today, July 1, see Uganda move from from Seventh to sixth – the most highest place Uganda has ever achieved in history.

The ranks come at a good time as the She Cranes are preparing for the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup set in Liverpool, England.

The latest rankings are inclusive of matches up to June 30th, 2019.

Notably, Australia maintained their lead atop while Jamaica overtake England in second place.

Malta has been dropped from the ranks after falling to play a match since July 2015, and Switzerland and Tonga have been relegated from the rankings after playing fewer than eight matches since July 2015 – INF has confirmed.

Uganda’s other group D World Cup opponents Scotland and Samoa are seventh and 14th respectively.

Uganda will start their World Cup campaign against England on July 12 at M&S Bank Arena (previously Echo Arena Liverpool).

Why the Ranks?
The INF World Rankings are published by the International Netball Federation (INF) to make it possible to compare the relative strengths of internationally active national netball teams. Initially, rankings were based on the results from the World Netball Championships, and released after the conclusion of each event, every four years
