Proline FC will hope for a successful start at this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup that kicks off on Saturday in Rwanda.

The Ugandan debutants are the absolute underdogs against three time winners APR.

“The training has been normal, we have tried out on finishing, positioning and everyone is much fit,” commented Proline FC captain Nordin Bunjo on Thursday.

“We have worked so hard to be here and I hope that we are going to do something special to show that the energy we used last season wasn’t useless.”

Head coach Shafic Bisaso re-echoed his captain’s words and further expressed confidence and readiness to take on anyone.

The former Express FC, SC Villa and Soana coach had earlier hinted that he will use the tourney to gauge his side as the team looks forward to participate in the coming CAF Confederation cup.

“We are learners yes, but we may end up being teachers,” Bisaso warned his opponents.

Bisaso will rely on forwards Ivan Bogere and Ibrahim Bonyo for goals, a strong midfielder that has Anukani Bright plus a water tight defence that will be commanded by Mustafa Mujuzi and new comer Bernard Muwanga.

Proline are in group C with Heegan (Somalia), Green Buffaloes (Zambia) and Rwanda’s APR.

APR interim coach Jimmy Mulisa, as quoted by the Rwanda Times, commented:

“We are ready, the atmosphere in the team is positive, and players are in buoyant mood. We have studied well our opponents and I have urged them to relax and just focus on executing our game plan.”

Uganda’s other representative KCCA FC will face Bandari FC on Sunday during lunch time hour.
