AFCON: Egypt FA President, Coach Out After Disappointing Loss

Egypt FA president Hany Abou-Rida has resigned from his post after Egypt’s 2019 AFCON exit and announced the sacking of Mexican manager Javier Aguirre.

The hosts, lost to South Africa’s Bafana Bafana to exit from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations at the round of 16.

Stuart Baxter’s South Africa scored a late winner thanks to Thembinkosi Lorch’s strike to take the Bafana Bafana coach to the quarters.

The coaching staff, led by Mexican manager Javier Aguirre, were appointed in 2018 to lead the national team towards achieving the AFCON title.
