Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho has completed his transfer to Egyptian club Misr El-Makkasa, sources have confirmed.
Aucho impressed the Egypt mid-table club after a good display during Uganda’s AFCON run that saw the team reach the knockout stages for the first time since 1978.
The deal which was brokered by Ugandan agent Kayemba Solo, is expected to be made official in the next days.
The industrious midfielder is expected to earn $600,000 for the period of two years. He joins from Indian club Churchill Brothers. He also had stints with East Bengal (India), Gor Mahia (Kenya), Simba (Tanzania) and Uganda’s JMC Hippos among others.
El-Mikkasa FC who joined Egypt top flight league in 2009-10 from division 2, is coached by controversial Ahmed Hossam Mido who was appointed on June 9, this year.
Before joining El Mikassa, Mido was sacked by Saudi Arabia club Al Wehda for a tweet that insulted a club fan who was criticising his performance.
During his playing days, Mido was thrown out of the Egypt team during the 2006 African Cup of Nations after an argument with then coach Hassan Shehata in the semi-final game against Senegal.
The striker showed his anger when substituted but his replacement Amr Zaki scored a header with his first touch, putting Egypt into the final.
