Betway Kobs lost 38-05 to Stanbic Black Pirates in the Coronation 7s finals on Saturday at the ongoing Roke Telkom National Rugby 7s league.
The defeat, cut Kobs’ lead over second placed Pirates to just three points with three circuits to go.
“People’s body language wasn’t at its pick,” noted Kobs captain Edgar Seruwagi. “It was supposed to be a must win.”
“This is not the end, sometimes you need to lose once in a while, to know your mistakes and then plan to comeback. Am glad we have lost, it sounds weird but it will help us to come harder and stronger.”
Explaining where they lost it, the captain was flank:
“They put us under pressure, we play a game of passing the ball but they closed our game as early as possible. And they didn’t let us move that much that is why we ended up suffocating.”
Next on the menu is the Mbale 7s on August 3rd. Jinja and Kitaka 7s are the last circuits on the calendar.
“Its unpredictable on who is taking it now,” Conrad said, when asked on which team will win the eventual title. “Its about who wants it most.”
The Kobs played without Ian munyani, Pius Ogena and Adrian Kasito but Edgar noted that however much the trio play an integral part, its not the reason as to why they lost.
“Its not individuals that play, we were able to turn things around even without them all the way from the groups. They are impact players but we have enough in the tank to take us extra miles.”
