JKL Dolphins successful sealed a double against Betway Power in the Tusker lite sponsored league after the side recorded a 85-77 victory in a thrilling affair at Lugogo indoor.
The game so the lead exchange hands on various occasions before JKL held on to cross the line.
Speaking after the laboured win, JKL’s point guard Joseph Wacha reflected:
“We started well and then struggled a bit especially in the third quarter but this time we didn’t panic. Because there has been games where we have blown away the lead and then we started panicking. We made so many mistakes here but managed to remain composed.
“At the back of our minds, we knew they were going to come at us, they probably came with vengeance and that failed them.”
After trailing by 10 points, 35-45 at halftime, Arnold Lando’s charges staged a 20-13 third quarter quest to reduce the deficit to just three points. However, JKL proved to be the team with more fuel in the tank as they won the last quarter 27-22 to take the night.
This was JKL’s third win a row after beating upon KCCA Men and Our Saviour. The side will return to league action on Sunday to face Ndejje University Angels at YMCA.
“We can go very far, we have a very good coaching staff that studies the game and try to improve every now and then, so we shall see how it goes especially when we meet the bigger teams,” added Wacha, when asked about his side’s ceiling.
“We are very confident, we are ready to face anyone, you come at us, we come at you.”
