Warriors managed to overcome old foe Betway Power in the Tusker Lite sponsored National Basketball League encounter played at YMCA court, Wandegeya.

In an Ill-fated affair, Coach Ronnie Mutebi’s side squeezed through a 67-61 laboured victory, and complete a league double against Power.

The rough affair was highlighted by a fracas between Geoffrey Soro and Warriors’ Amisi ‘Carmelo’ Saidi who received marching orders – Soro, towards the end of second quarter, knocked down Michael Buzangu in attempted screen which fueled Carmelo to attack Power’s forward.

Power shot an ugly 4 of 35 from the three point range and made 25 turnovers in a low display. The side only managed five points in the second quarter!

Michael Buzangu scored a team high 18 points for Warriors, Chris Omanye and Stanley Mugerwa managed 14 and 11 points, the latter adding 10 rebounds, to lift Warriors.

Syrus Kiviiri weighed in with 19 points against his former pay masters but lacked enough support with only Joseph Ikong (10) the other power player to score in double figures.

The loss, second in a row for Arnold Lando’s Power after falling to JKL on Wednesday, is the sixth in 16 games for the five time winners.

Warriors who won this reverse fixture 92-62, have now five from as many second round games – They had earlier beaten Ndejje, Our Saviour, KIU Titans and Sharing Youth.

This is Warriors’ 14th won from 16 games, their two losses coming against JKL Dolphins and UCU Canons.
