Soro Ban Too Harsh – Betway Power Asks FUBA To Reverse Decision

Betway Power has reportedly appealed against Geoffrey Soro’s ban. The lanky Power forward was banned for 25 games!

Speaking on Wednesday after their loss to City Oilers, assistant coach Boniface Okello noted that the ban is harsh.

He punched holes in the Federation, asking why the communication came on Wednesday just hours before their big game yet the decision was made on Tuesday.

“It was a shocker to us,” noted Okello. “On the side of management, notices like that should be issued out earlier for proper preparations.”

“We had a good game plan which was destroyed just at the last hour. The management must improve. We were left with no options under that short notice.”

FUBA’s technical and competitions council, after reviewing a scenario that occurred on July 26 between Betway Power and Warriors players, handed Power’s Soro a 25 game ban and was told to pay $200 fine.

In a letter seen by the website from the basketball covering body, Soro was found guilty of breaching the game’s rules where he acted violently and brought the game into disrepute.

Teammate Philip Ameny and Warriors Amisi ‘Carmelo’ Saidi were both banned for ten games and ordered to pay $150 fine.

Okello added:

“The inconsistency is not there, there are better ways to punish a player than all these heavy bans. This is a National team player that you want to improve on his career. The ban should be reversed.

“Soro is not playing for the Federation, he is playing for the fans. So many are affected in the due course.”

Power who lost their third out of last four games, will face Falcons on August 4 at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Coach Okello stated that he still has a strong team to take him through the next hurdles now that he knows that he will not be with the suspended pair.

“At least now we know that we don’t have them, its very tough for any coach to adjust in that short time. Even the bench players were shocked. So it’s now high time for Brian Sivachi and Baale Suleiman to step up.”
