Mbarara City FC has ejected URA FC out of this year’s FUFA Pilsner Super Eight cup.

Second half goals from Brian Ahebwa and Paul Mucureezi gave the Ankole Lions a 2-0 laboured victory at Kakyeka Stadium.

The Visitors’ head coach Sam Ssimbwa revealed that he was hard done by the fact that he missed over six players, before blaming the referee.

Ssimbwa had pre-warned about poor officiating in Mbarara.

“There were some lapses in officiating,” noted the tactician after the loss. “We got a genuine penalty but the referee denied us.”

“Mbarara was good also but that is because we lacked our six players – We have players in the Cranes camp and some of our players have been denied licences.

“I congratulate Mbarara but we shall meet in the league where we shall beat them in style.”

It should be noted that URA FC has four players in Cranes camp that is preparing for the CHAN qualifiers – Uganda play Somalia on Saturday at Lugogo.

Ashraf Mandela, Shafic Kagimu, James Alitho and Paul Mbowa are the player with the National team.

The victory is the first for Mbarara in five attempts – All the four meetings between these sides had ended in draws.

Mbarara joins Vipers as the other team on the Super Eight semis – Viper eliminated Proline 1-0 thanks to Denis Mwemezi’s only goal of the game.

KCCA FC will face Wakiso Giants while Tooro United visit Onduparaka in the other quarter final.
