Uganda Cranes head coach Abdallah Mubiru is convinced with the team’s performance against Somalia.
Uganda pummeled Somalia 4-1 to win 7-2 on aggregate and qualify to the second round of the 2020 CHAN qualifiers.
Patrick Kaddu bagged a hat-trick and Allan Kyambadde was also on target in a one sided affair at StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
“We are happy as a team for this achievement,” started Mubiru who was speaking a post match press conference.
“It’s good that we have qualified to the next round and that’s what we wanted.”
Uganda will now face winner between Burundi and South Sudan – The former won the first leg 2-0 in Bujumbura and will look to seal their place at the next stage come the return leg at Lugogo on August 4.
“The most important element was for the team to qualify to the next round no matter how we have played. All what we needed is to at least score one or two goals to guarantee our qualification to the next round.
“To a certain extent we have achieved it, much as not good as we wished but like I said its a work in process.”
The Cranes are targeting to qualify to CHAN for the fourth consecutive time.
