Uganda’s left back Shafic Batambuze has been included in Gor Mahia’s squad for the 2019/20 CAF Champions League.
Batambuze is one of the club’s pillars at the back since joining last year in October as a direct replacement for fellow countryman Godfrey Walusimbi who joined Kaizer Chiefs then.
However, Batambuze has failed to break into Uganda Cranes’ squad recently despite being in fine form for the K’galo.

He is one of the few Ugandans to have featured for Gor including Erisa Ssekisambu, Daniel Sserunkuma, Ivan Anguyo, Khalid Aucho among others.
He played for Tanzanian side Singida United before joining the record Kenya Premier league winners. He also had stints in Kenya with Sofapaka, Western and Tusker FC.
Gor Mahia will face Burundian Champions Aigle Noir in the CAF Champions league first round.
The side will be captained by Denis Oliech. Gislain Yikpe Gnamien (Ivory Coast) and Francis Afriyie (Ghana) are some of the seven new signings included in a 25 man squad.
