Awany Signs Four-Year Contract With Ashdod FC

Uganda Cranes defender Timothy Awany has signed a four year contract with his new club Ashdod FC.

Ashdod FC plays in the Israel premier league – Ligat ha’al.

The move ends his five year spell with KCCA FC where he captained the club to their 13th UPL title last season.

He will notably be remembered as the captain who led the Uganda club to Champions League group stages for the first time I’m history.

At Ashdod FC, the centre back will put on jersey number 19.

Ashdod FC finished third from the bottom last season. They beat the drop by just a point.

The 2019/20 season will kickoff on August 24 as Ashdod pays visit to Hapoel Hadera.

This will be Awany’s second club after joining KCCA FC from Kibuli SS in 2014.

KCCA FC have already signed John Revita as a new replacement for Awany at centre back.

Awany was part of the Uganda Cranes team that reached knockout at 2019 AFCON in Egypt for the first time since 1978. Many of the players on that team, like Khalid Aucho, Abdul Lumala, Emmanuel Okwi have all got new teams.
