Mbarara City: Coach Ssenyondo Blames Players’ Excitement For Loss

Mbarara City FC coach Brian Ssenyondo has put the blame on players excitement for the team’s loss against Vipers.

Mbarara City scored first through Brian Ahebwa but their lead lasted just a minute when Tito Okello scored at the other end.

The Ankole Lions had Ronald Otti’s penalty saved by Fabien Mutombora as Vipers won 5-3 in shootouts.

“We played well according to our plan but I can’t believe we lost,” Ssenyondo said in the press conference. “We played arguably the best team with quality and we needed to contain them and we slowly studied them.”

“We got over excited and delayed in the celebration which cost us just seconds after scoring.”

Ssenyondo noted that his side managed to play well despite starting preseason training very late.

Despite the loss, the visitors dominated proceedings and had some open chances at goal.

On the way forward, the young tactician said that his side has to improve on the depth in squad could have cost his side – He commented that he will be adding one or two players in his team, probably a defender and any outfield player.
