CECAFA U15: Uganda Junior Cranes Off The Mark

Uganda’s U15 national football team beat Ethiopia 3-0 in their opener at the ongoing CECAFA U15 Championship at the Asmara International stadium, Eritrea.

Devis Ogwal gave Uganda a deserved lead when he nodded in from Caros Kaddu’s freekick.

In to second stanza, Abasi Kyeyune doubled the advantage off Travis Mutyaba’s pass before Ogwal grabbed his brace with a good goal to seal a 3-0 victory.

The Junior Cranes will return to action against Tanzania on August 19.

Reorganization After Djibouti Withdrawal

The tournament format has been revised following the withdrawal of Djibouti.

It was initially supposed to be a 11 team tourney but the number of participants is now 10.

The tourney now has two groups of five teams each.

Uganda who initially had Rwanda, Ethiopia, and South Sudan in group B, was later given Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.

The top two teams from each group, walks into the semis.

The finals have been scheduled for August 30, 2019.
