UCU Canons: Titus Lual Reveals Secret Behind Impressive Regular Season

UCU Canons are set to be the top seed going into the post season. The Mukono bases University have beaten on almost everyone at the ongoing Tusker Lite Sponsored NBL.

The Canons will have to beat Kampala University on August 24 to confirm their place at the top of the 12 man log.

Nicholas Natuhereza’s charges have won 18 and lost three games so far.

Speaking after their win against Warriors recently at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo, UCU’s power forward Titus Lual commented that his team’s impressive run has been due to their athleticism and team chemistry among others.

“We are younger than any other team we compete with in the league, what kept us on is our athleticism. We use that us an advantage to beat other teams because the age they are in can not compete with us, we run them down,” Lual said.

“It’s more of team chemistry, we are more of playing together right now than last season. The coach keeps our selves high in the game, he has a big hand in this plus our personal work outs.”

On the team’s chances ahead of the preseason, Lual added:

“In our minds, we always come out to compete but going forward, it will depend on how other teams also prepare. I will not say we are going to win but the way we shall prepare and the way they will prepare will determine the final results.”

The Canons beat Warriors 79-68 to seal a double against the Kyambogo based side – They had won the reverse fixture in the first round 62-60 on May 25 at YMCA.

Lual scored 15 points and 12 rebounds against Ronnie Mutebi’s team. He has totalled 169 rebounds, fifth on the log behind Francis Mbuyi (KCCA), Moses Mugisha (Kampala University), Daniel ‘Dudus’ Manoja (JKL) and Fadhil Chuma (UCU).

His 22 blocks are only bettered by City Oilers’ Francis Azolibe Chisioke who has 24.
