Super Eight: Mbarara City Ease Past Onduparaka to Finish Third

Mbarara City FC rolled over Onduparaka FC to claim third place in a FUFA Pilsner classification game played at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha.

An early goal from Paul Mucureezi and defender Jasper Aheebwa’s strike ensured the Ankole Lions win 2-0 and earn the Sh10M prize money.

The victory, is the second for Brian Ssenyondo’s charges who had beaten URA in the quarters before losing to Vipers in shootouts.

After falling to Mucureezi’s fifth minute goal, Onduparaka, who finish fourth, had their efforts denied by Ankole Lions’ shot stopper Tom Ikara – Dennis Adama also nearly levelled matters in the 47th minute after a buildup that involved Vitalis Tabu and Bashir Bheto.

Subsititute Ivan Eyamu had a chance to double the advantage but his shot at close range went over the bar off a Mucureezi cross.

In the 73rd minute, Jasper Aheebwa reserved time from the back and fired in a lose ball after a miss communication from onduparaka Goalkeeper Yunus Baker and defender Ramathan Dudu.

Onduparaka FC settles for fourth. Livingston Mbabazi’s team beat Tooro United in shootouts in the quarters but lost 3-1 to KCCA FC on the semis at Lugogo.
