Mbarara City FC coach Brian Ssenyondo is positive and confident that his side will beat Onduparaka FC as the sides face off on Tuesday.

The two teams will be battling for third place in a classification FUFA Pilsner Super Eight encounter at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakiso.

Mbarara City beat URA FC 2-0 in a quarter final game at Kakyeka Stadium but the side lost in penalty shootouts against Vipers at Kitende in the semis.

“We started well,” said Ssenyondo in a briefing held on Monday morning at Kati kati. “The performance of my team has been good but results didn’t go in our favour at Kitende. We expect good results on Tuesday against Onduparaka.”

Ssenyondo, formerly at Synergy FC, replaced Livingston Mbabazi as the head coach a month back. The latter moved on and is the head coach of Onduparaka FC.

“I have just been here for a month but we have tried to portray good football. We just have to pick ourselves up.

“Onduparaka is a tricky team, but we had also set our target to win this title, so our realistic target is to finish third and its what we are going to settle for.”

Ssenyondo added that his side wasted opportunities against Vipers, something which they have already rectified.

Mbarara City FC will be without Gaddafi Gadinho due to ‘family issues’ and has not been a common figure at his new club ever since he signed from Onduparaka FC.

The Caterpillars on the other end, beat Tooro United in shootouts at quarters but lost 3-1 to KCCA FC in the semis.

Winner (3rd) at this stage will walk away with Sh10M while the loser (4th) will bag Sh8M as cash prize.
