There is much anticipation ahead of this year’s Sseninde Women Development cup.
The tourney is set for this Saturday, August 24 in Mbarara at Kakyeka Stadium.
Eight teams, including Kinondoni FC from Tanzania, will be targeting the coveted prize.
This year’s individual winners will go home smiling – Bursaries, Awards and playing equipment are all at stake.
“This is going to be better,” Jean Sseninde told Journalists on Thursday during a press briefing held at Makhuti Hall, Hotel Africana in Kampala.
“We have secured two grounds to use so the girls will play football for some good minutes unlike in the previous editions.
“It has been a learning process and we keep on improving. Next year’s will also be bigger as it will go for about three days.”
It should be noted that this is the first time the tourney has moved out of Kampala, an initiative that target to take women football to all parts of the country.
The tourney has produced Makerere’s Catherine Nagadya, National team (Uganda Crested Cranes) stars like Fauzia Najjembe and Juliet Nalukenge.
Iganga’s Mwonda Foundation were champions in 2017 while Entebbe’s Taggy High school scooped the bragging rights for the first edition which was held in 2016 at Villa park.
