NBL: KIU Titans Complete Double Over JKL Dolphins

KIU Titans beat JKL Dolphins 77-75 in a closely contested NBL affair at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo.

The Titans who were flanked by a section of University fans from the Kansanga based University set the tone with a 26-20 lead after the first quarter.

KIU lost the second 10-25 but win the last two 20-18 and 21-12 respectively to seal a league double against JKL Dolphins.

KIU had won the first round fixture 68-54 on May 5.

Michael Bwanga produced a player of the match performance with a game high 23 points and 6 rebounds. Nunda Kiryowa and Denis Balungu had 14 and 11 points respectively.

Brian Namake (17), Brian Muramba (13) and Jonathan Obukunyang (12) scored in double figures for JKL but the efforts proved not enough.

This, is the second straight loss for JKL who came into this encounter on the back of a 68-81 loss to Warriors on Wednesday.

The victory is the third in a row for Brian Wathum’s Titans who had beaten Our Saviour and KCCA Men prior to Friday’s showdown.

KIU will end their regular season campaign against Warriors on August 30, a team they are likely to face in the quarter finals.

Speaking of Warriors, Chris Omanye had 24 while Mark Opio and Stanley Mugerwa drained 14 each as the Kyambogo based side eased past KCCA Men.
