CAF Champions League: Mutebi Lauds Players’ Belief

KCCA FC manager Mike Hilary Mutebi commended his players belief aftee his side managed to reach the first round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers.

KCCA FC were on the verge of elimination but Mustafa Kiiza hit a brilliant freekick in the 80th minute before Allan Okello doubled the advantage in the added minutes to see KCCA FC eliminate African Stars.

Speaking after the victory at Lugogo, Mutebi also set his target to the lucrative group stages.

“We played a very organized club,” started coach Mutebi in a press briefing. “The kids showed they believed despite playing a very good side and that was great character.”

“We believe a lot in what we are doing despite having less experience on the continent but we came and remained on our game plan untill we got the results.”

KCCA FC had lost the first leg 2-3 in Namibia and needed nothing but victory to go through.

In a closely contested game, Sadat Anaku who was played as the main target man missed the best of few chances for the hosts as the fans got frustrated.

Mustafa directed a free-kick into the back of the net to give the hosts a lifeline and Okello later put the icing on the cake with a beautiful finish.

“We are progressing to the group stages and the future is bright,my team has been playing against very organized teams but we have managed to earn the results,” the gaffer added.

On resting his players like Kasozi Mike Mutebi called it a tactical issue ahead of the super eight final on Sunday against Vipers.

KCCA FC will face winner between Petro de Luanda and Matlama. The latter lost the first leg 2-0.
