UPL: Okello’s Striking Prowess Continues As KCCA Edge Wakiso

Saturday, August 31
*KCCA FC 1-0 Wakiso Giants
(StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo)

Allan Okello’s lone strike was all KCCA FC needed to fire past newly promoted Wakiso Giants in a league game played at Lugogo.

The youngster continued his scoring prowess with a beauty in the 13th minute – He had scored three goals in CECAFA and as many in the concluded Pilsner Super Eight. He finished as the topscorer in the latter.

Okello who also scored KCCA FC’s opener in the league last season against Tooro United, scored this month against African Stars (CAF Champions League) and Proline FC (FUFA Super Cup).

The young midfielder, initially known for his ability to break down defences, headed in from Mustafa Kiiza’s delivery to leave goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi rooted on his line.

The visitors could have had an immediate response but Hassan Ssenyonjo tapped over the bar from close range.

Okello was denied a brace at the death of halftime when Fahad kawooya cleared his ball off the line, he also had an effort that rattled the post.

Hakim Ssenkumba had his rocket tipped over by KCCA shot stopper Charles Lukwago for a corner as the visitors tried to rescue a point in their first league game since promotion from Big league.

KCCA FC will play Busoga United away from home on 3rd September as Wakiso Gaints will be hosting URA FC
