Coach Brian Ssenyondo is excited after he picked his first league win as Mbarara City FC coach on first attempt.
The Ankole Lions beat Proline FC 3-0 in the game played at Luzira Prisons ground.
Brian Ahebwa and a brace from local hero Paul Mucureezi gave Ssenyondo a perfect and dream start.
“First of all am really so so happy, its my first game in top flight league of Uganda football and we have won it by a very good margin,” Ssenyondo couldn’t hide his excitement after the victory.
“As a coach, it feels good to win my first win. Am happy with the performance the boys have put up despite the bad weather.
“I am hopeful that if we continue doing what we have done today and we rectify the few mistake we made in this game, I think we will do better,
the performance has been good and where there’s a good performance, a good result is a guarantee.”
Ssenyondo replaced Livingston Mbabazi as the head coach of Mbarara, he earlier led the club to a third place finish in the Super Eight cup.
Next on Mbarara’s menu is a trip to Namboole to face SC Villa on Wednesday.
“This one (Proline) is done, we are playing a wounded lion who lost its first game so we have to go well prepared because we expect a very bitter challenge.”
