Cheptegei: Diamond League Trophy Winner Awarded By USPA

Long distance runner Joshua Cheptegei beat Bombers’ David Ssemuju and Isaac Masembe for a USPA monthly gong.

Cheptegei collected 305 points in the voting held at Imperial Golf View Hotel in a USPA monthly meeting.

Ssemuju and Masembe tied at second place with 285 points while 1500M runner Ronald Musagala finished third with 265 points as a result of wining his race in Paris at IAAF Diamond league.

To clinch this award Cheptegei won the IAAF Diamond league in 5000m in Zurich to become the first Ugandan to win the trophy.

Semujju and Masembe won silver medals each at All Africa games.

USPA commended all medalists at all Africa games for Uganda, the U15 National team for winning CECAFA trophy, Patricia Apolot for defending the Africa tittle, Uganda FEASSA winning team, KCCA FC and Proline FC for progressing to the next level of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup respectively.
