Express FC coach George Ssemwogerere will be under pressure to deliver in front of the home fans as his side play host to Bright stars.

This will be the first home game for the Red Eagles in the 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda Premier League after the side lost 1-0 away to BUL FC.

The coach, who a section of fans asked for his resignation letter before the end of last season, will be targeting for nothing but victory as the club go all out at home.

“We played a good game against BUL but we were affected by the licensing issues, we conceded a goal in the 20th minute after Hamis Batega and Martin Kizza mistake and we failed to recover,” Coach Ssemwogerere told the-SportsNation.com.

“We have played Bright Stars on various occasions, we are not sacred about them but we respect them. We want to create chances and score more goals come Tuesday.

“We want to use our home advantage very well and I believe we will win because we have held enough preparations.”

Sim, as commonly known, has a new looking team after the departure of the team’s core last in the ongoing transfer window. Disan Galiwango, Ivan Ocholit, Lawrence Kigonya, Sadiq Ssekyembe and Tony Kyamera are some of the old players from last season that are still at Wankulukuku.

Goalkeeper Tony Kyamera is out

The club’s buys are headlined by Frank Kalanda, Daniel Shabena and Ghana’s Emmanuel Bafoe.

“I have acquired the right players in the transfer window, they are young, talented and above all want to play for this club,” added Sim.

Goalkeeper Kyamera collided with Musa Esenu at Njeru and was rushed to hospital, he will miss Tuesday’s encounter. The club may opt for Mathias Muwanga who is still nursing a muscle problem in the back or Joshua Adea who replaced Kyamera. Adea was bought from San Siro Club in Ggaba. Goalkeeper Sadat Mugenyi has also received a licence to play after featuring in the Juniors league.

Express FC training last season

Idris Kaye has recovered but the game might have come early for him to feature. He got an injury in pre season when the club toured Paya, Mbale but has returned to training recently.

Hamdan Nsubuga and Joshua Musoke are expected to reprise their roles in midfield as Frank Kalanda will lead the line at Wankulukuku.

Bright Stars Target Express Scalp

Bright Stars coach Meddie Kisekka will feel that struggling Express will be the team they can snatch their first point of the season after falling 3-1 to Vipers.

The side squandered a 1-0 lead at halftime but were visibly the second best against a ruthless Vipers team.

The dust has settled, and now is the time.

To beat Express FC, Bright Stars will do it without Captain Nelson Ssenkatuka who is set for trials abroad and defender Farouk Katongole who was sent off against Vipers.

Bright Stars celebrating their goal against Vipers

Augustine Kacancu will command the middle of the park, Methodius Jungu, James Angu and Alfred Onek will tasked for both creativity and scoring goals.

Express FC has met Bright Stars 12 times in the league, winning four, losing twice and drawing six times. They have not lost a league game at home against Bright Stars.

It should be noted that Bright Stars beat Express in the Uganda Cup last season, both games at Mwererwe and Wankulukuku ended 1-1 before the Red Eagles lost in shootouts.
