UCU Lady Canons managed to overcome A1 Challenge in a National Basketball League (NBL) game played at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

This is one of three UCU’s games that were postponed by the Federation.

The Canons will play KIU Rangers on Monday before facing Angels on Tuesday to finish their second round games.

Sarah Ageno (15 points, 19 rebounds) and Rose Akon (14 points, 11 rebounds) hit double doubles while Rhoda Naggita added 11 points to lift the Canons.

The Canons led the first half 38-23 but lost the next two quarters 14-10 and 10-8, and had already done enough damage.

The result sees Nicholas Natuhereza’s troops complete a double over A1, they had won the reverse fixture 77-59 on May 11 in the first round.

The team, that missed Abei Priscilla, has now won 12 games and will leapfrog Nkumba Lady Marines (11-7) whatever the result in their remaining two games.
