SC Villa Vs Mbarara: Record Winners Seek To Get Off The Mark

Wednesday, September 4
*SC Villa Vs Mbarara City FC – 8PM
(Mandela National Stadium, Namboole)

SC Villa will be aiming at first points when they return to action against Mbarara City FC in a night game at Namboole.

Villa had a false start in their league opener, also played under floodlights, falling 1-0 to Cephas Tarzan Kambugu’s only goal to hand Kyetume an historic win.

Last season, Villa needed two howlers from Mbarara goalkeeper Ali Kimera to overcome the Ankole Lions in a game which was also played at night at Namboole.

Kimera made a poor clearance in Albert Mugisa’s way for the opener but Jude Ssemugabi leveled matters later on.

Towards the end of the game, Kimera an initial shot for Ronald Magwali to squeeze home the winner.

Consequently, Kimera was expelled by Mbarara and he has joined Busoga United.

Edward Kaziba’s charges will this time not bank on calamitous acts from the Ankole Lions but will seek the best from his team for maximum points.

Despite having some new signings like Faisal Muwawu, Yayo Lutimba, Emmanuel Wasswa, Denis Kamanzi among others, the players from last season like Bashir Mutanda, Saidi Keni, Asuman Alishe, Ambrose Kirya, Charles Lwanga and Derrick Ndahiro etc will be the core.

Mbarara who will be coming for revenge, beat Proline FC 3-0 thanks to Paul Mucureezi’s brace and a strike from Brian Ahebwa in their league opener.

Coach Brian Ssenyondo has included new signing Gadaffi Gadinho on the team squad for the first time since joining from Onduparaka FC.
