Denis Onyango Reveals His Pick For Best FIFA Men’s Player

Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango has picked the order of his favourite three for this year’s 2019 Best FIFA Men’s Player.

The Best FIFA Men’s Player is an annual award ceremony recognizing the best footballer in the world for 2019 by World Football governing body, FIFA.

FIFA announced in February that The Best FIFA Awards 2019 will take place at the Teatro all Scala in Milan, Italy on September 23.

In an exclusive interview with this website, Onyango said:

“I will vote for Virgil Van Dijk as number one and I expect him to be the overall winner because he has had a good year with Liverpool. Then Christaino Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as second and third respectively.”

It should be noted that national team captains are part of the four voting panels, along with national team coaches, a media representative per member association and fans (online poll).

Each of the four, account for a 25% weighting.

Each voter’s first choice receive five points, second choice three points and third choice one point before points from the different voting panels are added up to together to calculate the final ranking, unless otherwise.

Goal: Ronaldo and Messi have both won five apiece, but they are still favourites to lift it again this year – though another upset could be pulled by Liverpool and Netherlands star Virgil van Dijk. The defender was recently awarded the UEFA Player of the Year award, beating out the duo.
