*Wakiso Giants 1-0 Tooro United
(Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha)
Wakiso Giants managed to overcome Tooro United on matchday three of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Viane Ssekajugo’s header in the 64th minute proved the difference as the Purple Sharks extended their dominance against Tooro.
Ssekajugo connected Masiko’s long ball past Chrispus Kusiime to give Wakiso a laboured win at Wakissha’s Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
This is the second straight win for Kefa Kisala’s side – They beat URA 3-1 on matchday two after falling 1-0 in their league opener against KCCA FC .
Ssekajugo had a chance to double the advantage late in the game when he was put through by substitute Duncan Sseninde but fluffed a keeper-to-beat chance in the air.
Earlier in the first half, Lawrence Bukenya collected a good ball from Masiko but shot over and wide. Geoffrey Sserunkuma headed direct to Kusiima from Simon Namwanja’s assist as the Purple Sharks looked for a positive early start.
Ssenkumba tried from th freekick but his effort went miles out.
Just like at Kitende where Tooro lost to Vipers, the side that missed Coach Wasswa Bbosa, were blunt on goal.
John Ssemazi fired wide and also missed from a counter attack after a low assist from Godfrey Lwesibawa.
Tooro remains on three points, a win on matchday one against Busoga United.
Tooro will host Maroons on Tuesday, September 10 while Wakiso Giants have a trip to Muteesa II Stadium on Wednesday against Bright Stars.
